About
I am a first year doctoral student. My main research interest is Indian Buddhism, and particularly Nikaya and Agama Buddhism. I have studied Sanskrit for three years with Professor Rasik Vihari Joshi, and have taken Pali courses for about one year with Professor Luis O. Gomez from Michigan University, with whom I have also taken courses on different Buddhist topics for three years.
I wrote my master´s degree thesis on the utilization of Buddhist didactic methods as a means of subjugation of political power in the Ashokavadana. Now I am researching on the similarity of kings and spirits (nagas, yakshas and rakshasas) as destructive forces but also as potential protective powers as depicted in Pali and Sanskrit Buddhist Literature and also in Buddhist sculpture and visual representations.
