Ph.D. in Japanese Studies, specialty in Japanese History (2007), and M.A. in Japanese Studies (2000), both from the Center for Asian and African Studies, El Colegio de México. He received his B.A. in Art History from the University of Havana in 1995. Has taught courses on Japanese Art History at several universities from Mexico, Cuba and Argentina, and participated in academic events in Mexico and abroad. His research topics center on Japanese popular-urban culture and its visual production, in particular the relationships between the power structures and the erotic prints production during the Edo period. Has published the book "Popular Culture and the Prints in Japan" (El Colegio de México, 2005), and co-edited the book "Visual Culture in Japan: Eleven Iberoamerican Essays" (El Colegio de México, 2009). His new book "The Control of Japanese Erotic Prints, Shunga" (El Colegio de México), will be published by the second half of 2010. He currently is professor-researcher and coordinator for research activities at the Center for Asian and African Studies, El Colegio de México.
